Evening Talks for the Recently Diagnosed

The talks detailed below have all taken place now. The evenings were very well attended and the feedback we have had has been very positive. We hope that the information gained from this series of discussions has been helpful to all who attended.
 

These evening talks are aimed at people who have been Recently Diagnosed and their family. The series of three talks are held between 7 and 9 pm on a Wednesday evening. 

 
The first meeting was about What exactly is MS, self help strategies and general information. Personal input on this topic is given by 4 people with MS. This talk is hosted by Zandra Taylor the MS nurse from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Ward 40 and Ian Leslie the Centre Manager at the SRC. The date for this meeting was Wednesday the 24th of October 2001.
 
The second meeting was about what role your diet plays in MS with guest speaker Alison Weir a dietician. The meeting also covers Physiotherapy and general exercise with guest speaker Christiane Taylor a physiotherapist. The date for this meeting was Wednesday the 7th of November 2001.
 
The third meeting was for general discussion on the topic of MS and dealing with MS. The first guest speaker for this meeting is Sandra Hart a counsellor who will speak about emotional reactions and lead a discussion / answer session. The second guest speaker Dr Fiona Summers a Neuropsyhchologist from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary will lead a similar session on dealing with anxiety / depression The date for this meeting was the 21st of November 2001.
